    2. You are by far the hardest working active musician in this particular vein of the industry. It,s all spot on and easy to follow. I commend you on your packages and your subtle follow up mail. Truly professional Well done everybody that end!

    3. Hey Doug, very good video. As always, with all the in depth details, but yet very simple to follow. I have played guitar for 53 years and have to say these videos have helped me greatly in every aspect of my playing. Thank you so much!! Tim

    5. awesome solo. Always appreciated the "musicality" of Vince's style, gives each song its own personality true to the old style country music.

    6. Howdy - Thank you. I noticed a small error in the music you posted. In the first full bar of E (after the 3 note pickup), I think the second note should be G# rather than A#. I believe this is how you played it in the video. I like the descrending chromatic though :). Chances are most be people followed your video. As a beginning guitar player (long time bass player) videos are slightly fast for me and I look at the music/tab and video. Cheers JMA

  2. Respect for helping keep alive the sound and feel of real country - I'm no stick-in-the-mud traditionalist, but I can tell 'bogus country' in an instant. The real thing takes talent, a brain and a lot of heart.

And did I mention integrity? That's what separates 'for the money' from 'for the music'...

  5. Doug, that was great. I was telling myself I needed some Tele time this weekend and working on this solo would be perfect. I agree with the comment above. You are the real deal and it's obvious you are in it for the music. Thanks for all you do.

  8. agreed great lick utilizing the shapes,

I watched the Country Music Awards and once again I was
left wondering what the heck is or where is country music?

I saw the majority of the performers playing rock (rock guitar licks, rock posturing, rock sonic assault...) and then I saw a few other acts performing mushy ballads that were even too soft and slow for light music radio stations.

Rock and easy listening ballads was the majority of the music performed
last night at a COUNTRY MUSIC Awards show!

    What is country music today?

Aren't country music fans mad as heck over what is now called country?

  9. Just to try and not repeat what everone else has said ,hell I cant ...what they said ditto for me but aside from your gnawing and clawin stuff which I dig most of all this one came easy as I always based my traditional or pseudo traditional country solos from those chord shapes as well as this style of phrasing but lord knows its been over 20 years since Ive had to play this style. As always your always the best ,for me any ways take care Doug

  16. love this lessen , when you can bring these licks/harmony sounds out of these shapes or partial chord positions an notes in between that make a melody to my ears this is knowing how to play the guitar this is the secret to being able to say want you want on the guitar i love the way you can take a shape an allow the scale or melody evolve out of that position. this is what ive been needing to understand how to use the guitar to make statements not only just hit hot licks.thank you for this lesson, priceless to the learning.
